Well it's been another week without cars and I'm still feeling pretty good about it. It was very pleasing to me to discover that when I've told people about what we've been doing (not driving) they get really excited about it and tell me how awesome it is. I didn't expect such a great reception. And it really has been a great experience, it's gotten me into better shape, has helped the earth, and has provided with perspective in relation to my vehicles and my appreciation towards what I have and the world around me.
As I ride my bike, rollerblade, run, or walk I have started to realize what people miss out on when they drive their cars....the scenic beauty around us. Since when I use these forms of transportation I'm moving like a turtle compared to a car I can take the time to look around me and appreciate nature and the world around me. I live near a river which runs right through town and I truly feel people miss out on it's beauty even though they may drive across the bridge over it every day. As I pass over it I noticed the different types of birds in the waters, the geese, ducks, or whatever else they might be....the fisherman trying to catch a big one, and the trees and beautiful landscape around it. Everything moves so slow and perfectly, as nature intended it...it's great.
Here's a summary of some of the traveling that had to be done this past week:
Day 15: Rollerbladed to dance
Day 16: Biked to drop recyclables off, to post office, to the store, and to pick up food, rollerbladed to dance, and walked later to dance
