The Effect of Foods on Our Wellbeing

The food we eat has an extraordinary effect on our physical and mental wellbeing. If you find this hard to believe all you need to do is change your eating habits. If you typically eat junk food, eat healthy and you will feel revitalized with more energy. If you typically eat very healthy just eat junk for a day and you will experience mood swings and discomfort.

Yesterday I reverted to a style of eating in which I admit I once partook in a lot of the time. This form of eating consists of eating junk filled with salt, refined flours and sugars, and loads of artificial ingredients. I wish I could say that this was part of a planned experiment, but sadly it was simply me falling off of my track of progress towards optimal health and wellbeing.

My food intake yesterday was homemade cookies, name brand chips, bottled salsa, and chili (simply hamburger meat, canned beans, and canned tomato sauce). In the morning I did have a few strawberries but they certainly did not make up for the food mistakes I made throughout the rest of the day.

This terrible diet, which unfortunately many eat on a daily basis had a profound effect on my physical and mental wellbeing. I found myself very tired even though I had a solid night of sleep the previous night. Physically I also felt constipated and just down right fat and sluggish. I also felt very down and easily irritated. At night when I laid down for bed I found that my whole body was in pain and uncomfortable as I tried to find a position I could fall asleep in. Finally this morning I woke up tired and with a headache....all of this....from eating junk.

I'm glad for this experience it has reminded me of how strongly the foods we eat not only effect our physical heath but also our mental wellbeing.
