Goodbye Dairy Foods

Conventional advice tells us to consume lots of dairy, it's high in calcium and vitamin D and helps build strong bones and teeth, right? Well, there are those that think so, but there are also those who believe the dairy industry is one of the biggest dietary and health scams out there. The arguments for each side of this argument, dairy healthy and dairy bad, could go on for days.

I am embarking on a small mission to eliminate dairy from my diet for the simple period of one week. Digging through the online articles at Natural News prompted this decision as I found an article that correlated congestion with dairy products. I have had chronic on going congestion for years now and no matter what I try it doesn't seem to go away.

I'll check back in soon with the results from this Goodbye Dairy Foods experiment.

This is the beginning of my

This is the beginning of my third day of no dairy and it amazes me how much dairy I actually eat on a daily basis. I'm not a big milk drinker but I do usually have it in my cereal for breakfast but now I'm being to see how much dairy I consume by all of the foods milk is typically used in. Cheesecake, chocolate cake, nachos, soups, salad dressings, pasta sauces, pizza, tacos, cheeseburgers, ice cream...the list could go on. Now as for a change in my health from the omission of dairy, well I do feel a bit less congested but perhaps it's a fluke. I'll continue on and see how this plays out.

It has been done...sort of....

Well, I have officially gone without dairy for a week...sort of...I must admit that I did have butter cooked with food on a few occasions and used a milk containing salad dressing on a couple of occasions. So technically my week without dairy was not quite that.

As I said before, if you really take the time to consider how much dairy is in your diet and you are eating the SAD (Standard American Diet) you might find yourself encountering a lot of foods that you normally eat without even thinking about the fact that they contain dairy. I'm a cheese lover so this experiment really tested my willpower in that arena.

Physically after eating basically no dairy for about a week I feel lighter, less bloated, in fact I had almost no digestive problems at all for the entire week period, and filled with more energy. Oh and as for the congestion, it's still there, perhaps slightly less though, as I said before.

The verdict? I'm going to continue avoiding dairy as best as I can but I might even eat some just to test my body's reaction.
