When I first heard about the product MOXXOR, which contains a powerful omega-3 and antioxidant formulation, I was a little surprised to hear that the source of omega-3s was Green Lipped Mussel Oil. I had never heard of such a thing and was curious about what it was exactly and what it could do for me. So after doing some research I will let you in on what I discovered.
The Green-Lipped Mussel
The Green-Lipped Mussel (Perna canaliculus) is a shellfish, specially a mussel, native to New Zealand. In fact the creature is endemic to New Zealand, meaning that it is a unique creature only found in the New Zealand region. If you find you can't seem to picture what a mussel looks like picture a clam, they appear somewhat similar. The shell of a green of a green-lipped mussel is dark brown and green, the outer edges of the shell (or what some might call the lip) are rimmed with green. Also, it is one of the largest mussel species. What makes the Green-Lipped Mussel special is the high concentration of omega-3s that it contains.
Omega-3
Research has shown that omega-3s can assist in reducing the symptoms of, pain, and problems associated with allergies, heart disease, depression, asthma, cholesterol, high blood pressure, inflamed bowel, arthritis, and many other health concerns.
If an individual wants to ingest a sufficient quantity of omega-3s supplementation is normally the way to go since it is hard to get an adequate amount of omega-3s in a normal or even very healthy diet. Since fish are a source of omega-3s some people may choose to eat them instead of supplementation; however, fish are also a source of toxins such as mercury and other pollutants such as pesticides and herbicides, that accumulate in water. Other individuals seeking a vegan source of omega-3s incorporate flax into their diets, another good source of omega-3s. Common sources of omega-3s in supplement form are fish oil and flax oil. Another great source for omega-3 supplementation is green-lipped mussel oil. Although this source of omega-3s has been available to the public for decades it has only been recently that there has been much publicity about it as a superior source of omega-3s.
In fact, the anti-inflammatory value that is found in MOXXOR Mussel Oil is 158 time more effective than fish oil and 3950 times more effective than flax oil. MOXXOR contains both DHA and EPA among other types of omega-3s.
